Basic Planning and Scheduling

Using A Calendar

A Calendar is a fundamental part of planning and organising and it's so easy and inexpensive to implement. you can buy them cheap online or at your local bookstore, or for ease of access, you could just use Google.  Do it on your phone, add timings as soon as you can and keep the app on your home screen, make the process easy.

A calendar is perfect for tracking things like:

  • Friend and Family Birthdays

  • Medical Appointments

  • Dental Appointments

  • Work Events

  • Social Events

  • Deadlines

The more you update your calendar, the more informed you will be and the less pressure will be on you to remember it all. If  you use an application like google you can even set reminders for yourself a week or day in advance so your never caught off guard.

For the best results I recommend updating it every time a new event pops up or timing changes. and at the end of each day make sure it is annotated correctly.

Evening Routines

A great way to ensure a productive next day is to follow an evening routine, preparing you for the next day. This is the thing you do right before sleep to prepare yourself for the next day.

instead of doom scrolling for an hour or losing an hour to Netflix, try something like this:

  • Tidy your room

  • Prepare your clothes for the next day

  • Set a glass or bottle of water by your bed

  • brush your teeth

  • Update your calendar and schedule

  • check your emails

  • Set an alarm

  • Evening read

You can see that everything on this list is nice and easy to follow, and regardless of whether you've been playing video games all evening or in the gym or watching tv, when it comes to your evening this little list sets you in a good condition for the next day. It is a little sacrifice of time and energy which makes a huge difference to who you are.

I recommend starting small, and then adding more things until you find yourself living a more satisfying life.

Morning Routines

Your Morning Routine is going to be your foundation for the rest of the day, a poor morning routine could leave you feeling tired and groggy before the day has even begun which is why it is important for you to start the day right. So take some time and figure out what you need to do in a morning to feel more energised and better prepared for the day. Here is an example:

  • Wake up and turn off your alarm

  • Drink a glass of water (rehydrate)

  • Lights on/ curtains open

  • morning coffee

  • morning run or meditation

  • shower & Brush teeth

  • get dressed in appropriate clothes

  • Quick breakfast.

  • check calendar and emails.

Again remember to start small, maybe you just want to wake up on time at first, maybe you dont want to go to work on an empty stomach, so you set an alarm and have a snack. Remember it is all about living a more satisfying life. Start with what you need to do and then expand as time goes on.

A basic Daily/ Weekly Planner

Once you have mastered the calendar and the implementation of some basic routines you could then start planning out your day to day in more depth. A basic Notepad or a word doc would do, again you could use google so that you can access all of your daily planning information from your phone easily.

First write out all of the timings for your day then divide your day into sections. It should look something like this.

Make it as detailed as you want and try to follow and update it as often as you can.
